Senior ML/DL Engineer

Job description

Do you remember when you first got into technology? Whether it was studies or a hobby, but writing that first line of code, when you realised what you’d accomplished.

Your mind started to race and think about all of the things you could create, automate, design and all the problems you could solve right?

Then came Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and it was really at this point where you could see the future of how we can use computers to solve real world problems.

With new technology comes new challenges though, especially in the ML field where 80% of ML projects never go to production.

It’s a tough space to be, but the excitement of getting something to production level is the fire that keeps on burning inside you.

Well that’s where we are at, at the moment, in fact we just went live last week with one of our first projects and we are expanding our teams.

You’ll be working on our cutting edge AI applications, building and improving our deep learning models with our clinical experts.

There’s the chance to do R&D projects and even contribute towards patents. The team already has 8 patents between them covering our market leading algorithms which have been used around the globe.

You’ll have a chance to work on something that is a world- first and can help people from all over the world in a global industry worth €500Bn+!

You’ll be working with an accomplished remote team of machine learning professionals where no corners are cut and we hold ourselves to the highest standards.

Keeping up with the latest technology can seem like a job in itself at times, but don’t fret you’ll have access to all the tools and training you need to work at your best with dedicated research times, hackathons, monthly paper review sessions and an individual budget for L&D for books or conferences you wish to attend.

Sound like something you’d be interested in? Brilliant! This is what we look for 👀

You’ll be a whizz with Python as standard, but also using your skills within computer vision preferably 3D and if you’ve got volumetric data, and experience with DICOMs then that’s just the cherry on the top!

You’ll be designing, improving and validating deep learning models and you’ll have familiarity with core deep learning concepts for 2D and 3D image processing.

You’re looking for somewhere who hates micromanagement as much as you, and is looking for autonomy and responsibility to be able to work how you see fit to get the work done, but with the support you need when you need it.

If this sounds like you, then let’s talk!

The perks of working at Promaton:

  • 🏡 Freedom to work from home or anywhere you like (and any time you like). We only have a few touch points

  • 👩‍🔬 Dedicated time for hackathons and research, to explore new ideas of your own. We have a quarterly "hack for a week on anything you like"

  • 🙌 Monthly paper review sessions, where we discuss the latest developments in the field to stay up to date with the current state-of-the-art

  • 🎓 Real training budget for books and conferences or anything else you need to grow

  • 🚀 Work with the latest technology, on the forefront of a rapidly developing field in medical imaging AI

  • 💪 Loads of responsibility and autonomy (we hate micro management) and a chance to make a real impact

  • 🏖 Awesome yearly company retreat, and quarterly team events

  • ⛺️ 25 days of annual leave

  • 💻 Top-notch gear, and even bigger servers to play with

  • 🏄‍♂️ Promaton is funded for many years to come, meaning you can have the impact you only get at a startup, but with the job security of an established company

  • 3 - 5 years experience in computer vision (preferably with 3D, volumetric data, and experience with DICOMs)

  • Experience in designing, improving and validating deep learning models

  • Familiarity with core deep learning concepts for 2D and 3D image processing

  • Proactive personality with tendency to move things forward

  • Enthusiastic and energetic

  • 4 years experience working with Python

  • Experience with software development workflows: Git, GitHub, Testing

  • Preference for working asynchronously with a distributed team in a time zone between UTC-1 and UTC+3 (-2 to +2 hours of Amsterdam time)

Bonus points:

  • Experience managing a team and mentoring other colleagues

  • Computer science level degree or equivalent degree with a strong mathematical foundation

  • Familiarity with agile methodologies

  • Experience with products in production (thus not building solely prototypes but running the full ML ops lifecycle) and implementation of related processes

  • Non-deep learning AI-experience: ML, reinforcement learning, constraint satisfaction problems, etc.

  • Experience in a regulated environment (complying to ISO norms) and medical domain

  • Experience with model deployment (AWS, Kubeflow, Tensorflow serving, Docker, etc)

  • Experience with PyTorch

  • Ability to put more (data) processes in place

  • Good coaching and communication skills
