Your expertise will help build and improve machine learning models and pipelines that segment anatomical structures and design surgical tools with the latest technology running in production. Important in your role is to continuously strive for best practices for our ML models in production and how to use data to get to the best solution.
Bringing together our platform and machine learning engineers, our cutting edge AI applications, at lightning speed, to every dental practice in the world. The products you will be responsible for have to uphold the high standards of medical software: to be reliable, predictable, and robust.
Building and improving our deep learning models together with our clinical experts.
Improving the quality, accuracy, and performance of our deep learning inference pipelines
Diving into the (dental imaging) data, looking for trends, outliers, and other factors that may influence the performance of our algorithms.
Doing R&D projects and even contributing to patents.
You'll be working with an accomplished remote team of machine learning professionals, that already have 8 patents on their name, and created market leading algorithms that are in use throughout the world.
The challenges you'll face:
Improving and optimizing our machine learning lifecycle management for our models in production, this is a complex challenge, especially within medical AI. We want to enable faster release cycles and increase automated quality measurement.
Automating the training of existing and new models.
We are a cloud-native company, and cloud-native ML frameworks are still in their early days. You'll help us navigate the ever evolving ecosystem of tools, to make sure we find the right balance between off-the-shelf and home-grown tooling. For example, we are moving our machine learning pipelines into Argo Workflows.
Medical AI has to comply with the highest quality standards. While in other industries failing to predict for example a recommended product has little consequence, in the medical field you really don't want to be wrong. Safety-critical AI is a hard topic.

To apply for this job, we have a couple of hard requirements:
Computer science level degree or equivalent degree with a strong mathematical foundation
1 year experience in computer vision (preferably with 3D, volumetric data, and experience with DICOMs) for example during your master thesis or part time job
Experience in designing, improving and validating deep learning models
Familiarity with core deep learning concepts for 2D and 3D image processing
Proactive personality with tendency to move things forward
Enthusiastic and energetic
1 year experience working with Python
Experience with software development workflows: Git, GitHub, Testing
Preference for working asynchronously with a distributed team in a time zone between UTC-1 and UTC+3 (-2 to +2 hours of Amsterdam time)
Excellent written English skills
Experience with machine learning systems in production, not just prototypes.
Non-deep learning AI-experience: ML, reinforcement learning, constraint satisfaction problems, etc.
Experience in a regulated environment (complying to ISO norms) or medical domain
Experience with model deployment (AWS, Kubeflow, Tensorflow serving, Docker, etc)
Experience with PyTorch
